Dirt Day 6-1-10
OK, I know that picture has nothing to do with my earth bag house, but, I wanted to share it because I rarely like any picture with me in it, but my sister did such a good job with this one, I decided to share, that is my baby girl and son, aren't they gorgeous? Anyway, today, I did work on the house until around 1pm, at which time the sun had sucked my energy, what little I had, and when the plaster was finally on the wall and the tarp cleaned off, I went in to the comfort of modern air conditioning. When the dome is finished, I should not need to run air conditioners, at least not very much. But, back to what I am supposed to be blogging about! I bought a small tarp to mix plaster on, and screened dirt onto it to make into plaster, but tomorrow morning I am going to set another dirt screening area up, and screen my plaster dirt there and then get it. The reason for this is because, I had gotten my mix recipe down and it worked really well, but if I screen straight to the mixing tarp I can't measure the dirt, you know, how many shovels of dirt to add?, and the mix has not been the same since the mixer quit working. So, I am sure once I get used to mixing plaster with my feet, then it will be like cooking and I will not have to measure too much, but until then, gotta measure. The plaster was really runny, which is ok because the sun was shinning right on it and it will dry way too fast, but I don't like putting it on that runny, very messy. OH, well, can't have it all. It will probably take two more loads of plaster for the pantry pod that I am working on, maybe I can get it done this week!? I have to go back and poke holes in the plaster today after it sets up some this afternoon. I just downloaded the pictures to flickr, so there are three new ones. Be back tomorrow. God bless you all.
