Happy dirt day everyone. Sorry it has been so long since my last post. My schedule has changed at work again, I won't be working very much, which means less money of course, but, at least I will have some free time, and also get back in a normal routine that involves sleeping (normal sleep, not the comatose 40 hrs on my days off type),Bible studies, and my responsibilities around my house. I kept the grandchildren this past weekend, so, needless to say, I didn't work on the house. Today though, I made it out there. And of course, I am so far behind on everything, I really don't know what to do first, I only have today and tomorrow, then on Wed. Lou and I are going bamboo hunting, if we find some, then I will bring as much as I can bring in my little truck as I can and Lou will bring some on Sunday as well. Bill is coming too, and he is bringing his girlfriend Joanne, so, if the weather holds we are going to have a great day. OK, somehow I managed to completely stray from what the picture above is about. I made a new screening machine, complete with wheels, and much better screen.
I decided to mush up some paper in a tub instead of mixing it directly with the dirt, I am going to do an experiment with papercrete tomorrow. If the outcome is good, then I will be switching over to that for the rest of the dome, pods, and sun-room. It is a lot lighter than dirt, so I am very hopeful about this. I am going to buy a mixer, which combined with the papercrete should really speed this up. I hope so anyway.
The new screening machine absolutely is awesome!!!! It is waist high on me, which means, one less back ache. It gets a lot more of the rocks out too. DUH!!!! Why didn't I do it sooner?? OH, forgot my job, and life in general. Well, time to hammer down then while I have a little time, got a lot to make up for.
I mixed about 1/3 tub of paper , 1 bucket of rice hulls, 4 shovels of screened dirt, I guess if I put straw in it you could call it paper cob, but, I plan on stabelizing it with portland. Anyway, the reason I am mixing it like this is because I have been putting paper in the plaster and I am a firm believer that is what is making the blaster the best out of all I have made so far. So, after some more research, I found that many people are using paper a lot and having good success, some even build entire houses out of it. So, tomorrow I will mix in some portland cement and use it. We will see what happens.
This is where I am going to put it, I plan on slip sheeting it, sort of. I don't know if I need the barb wire and re-bar, but I feel better about it, so, there you have it. If all goes well there will be more pics tomorrow. Have a great day. Ozarkmoma
